the hollow trees

the singsong birds were caged to death

within the hollow trees

living caskets skeletons of dark reveries

living caskets filled with the memories

of jolly old songs forever lost

the orchard weeps in silence

only a choir of ghosts trills

in the cold winter breeze

through the ghastly hollow trees
